We LOVE Winter Weddings — Ask the Experts!

Obviously, we at TCA are all about winter weddings—and we think you should be too! We could keep going on our list of reasons why. But sometimes, it’s good to have a little outside perspective. That’s why we’ve asked some of Boston’s leading experts to weigh in on the best parts of a winter wedding, from their section of the wedding world.

Let’s see what they had to say…

The Experts

Winston Flowers – Benjamin Newbold, Director of Events & Floral Design

“There are few things more romantic than a winter wedding. Late November and December is a time to embrace the spirit of the holiday season, so it’s ideal for brides who love romantic shades of red. Holiday glamour means you can go over-the-top—and bold reds are beautiful when paired with evergreens and winter textures like pine cones and eucalyptus. New Year’s Eve is also ideal for an evening of sparkle, and we love using winter whites, silver and mercury glass to do so in a tasteful way. As you move into the deep winter months of January, February, and March, some of the most beautiful flower varieties become available. Early spring blooms like ranunculus, anemones, tulips, and hyacinth are paired with vivid spring greens and flowering branches like quince. That’s reason enough to marry in the winter! There’s something cozy, warm and intimate about hosting your wedding surrounded by snow. The long, dark hours make you, and your guests, appreciate the glow of candlelight and the freshness of spring flowers.”

“There is sense of serenity that you get with winter weddings in the city. The typically hustle and bustle of weekends in and around Boston is much less and I find couples can be a little more relaxed with the flow of their day. It also allows for the outdoor photos on the sidewalks and parks to be much more private.”

And of course we asked one of the TCA family for their take!

The Catered Affair – Eliza Rafferty, Director of Sales & Production at the Harvard Art Museums

“A lot of people assume winter weddings have to be holiday-focused, and are limited because of the weather, or availability of flowers, or menus. But off-peak weddings can be just as fun, cozy, elegant, or colorful as you want it to be, and your vendors are going to be more available to you since they’re taking on fewer clients at that time. It’s a time to be creative and open to possibilities.”
