Somehow, it’s the end of 2017. How?? It feels like just yesterday we were swooning over winter weddings and then in the throes of the busiest Spring/Summer and Fall seasons! We’re not exactly sure where the year went, but we know we’re so proud of what we accomplished in efforts to be the region’s best caterer, and we’re unbelievably excited for what’s to come in 2018!
2017 was a banner year for The Catered Affair and our partnership venues, the Boston Public Library and the Harvard Art Museums. We’re adding to this list as of January 1, 2018 with the Institute of Contemporary Arts/Boston—our first waterfront venue and an exceptional location in the hopping Seaport District! We can’t wait to get started with our contract there, from picturesque seaside ceremonies and wedding receptions, to intimate parties, to sprawling, innovative conferences. We’re ready for all of it!
(Also, there’s some more venue news right around the corner! Check back soon and follow us on Facebook and Instagram for the latest…)
What else? Oh! We’re still so incredibly humbled to have been named the Best Wedding Caterer by Boston Magazine’s Best of Boston list, especially in a year with so many talented industry masters. We got to be a part of so many incredibly touching weddings this year, including the first ever weddings in Boylston Hall of the Central Library, and Boston darling Jenny Johnson’s wedding in the McKim building.
We got creative with ceremony spaces at the Harvard Art Museums over the river in Cambridge. From real weddings in Calderwood Courtyard to a gorgeous inspiration shoot in the modern lower levels and Menschel Hall, we designed the perfect spaces for making memories!
We’d be remiss not to mention our amazing cafés and restaurants at our venues! Dining Playbook visited both our cafés, the Newsfeed Café at the Boston Public Library, and Jenny’s Café at the Harvard Art Museums. Jenny’s was recently named the #1 Café to Study at in Cambridge (here’s looking at you, Harvard!), and the Newsfeed was a hub of activity in the library. Some famous local faces—like Mayor Marty Walsh, Anthony Bourdain, Joanne Chang, Salman Rushdie, and Governor Charlie Baker—dropped by the Newsfeed. In addition to the live radio segments, NFC hosted a number of impressive musical performances, event nights, and tasting events with local breweries. Oh, in case you hadn’t heard, the Newsfeed Café now has beer and wine service after 3pm. (Yes, you can drink at the library! Sign up for the Newsfeed’s newsletter and get up to date on all of that.)
There were so many amazing moments throughout the year it’s hard to keep track of them all. It will be hard to beat in 2017, but we’re confident there’s plenty in the year to come for one of the best Boston caterers—and beyond!
